Halloween with Kandee Johnson

Kandee is an amazing artist and I definitely suggest you watch all of her youtube videos. She’s got tons of costume videos so if you don’t know what to be for Halloween, she can give you some great ideas. I love this one…

She looks just like Betty Boop!

Nostalgic for the 1990s?

Me too! My memories of the (early to mid) ’90s include my aunt cutting her hair into asymmetrical bobs à la T-boz and a mixture of gangsta menswear and aerobics spandex. But that was for the older folks. I was too busy watching cartoons. Althoug I did dress up like Chile for Halloween.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to mention slap bracelets. Or was that the 80s?

I used to have some pretty serious unicorn pogs. In case you didn’t know, these were really popular back in the mid to late 90s. They were made of plastic or cardboard and the “slammers” were made of some other material and were a little heavier. Pile the pogs and hit them with side of the slammer. The player with the most face-up pogs won. I think that’s how it went.

Are those flowers for me? *Swoon*–JTT, or Jonathan Taylor Thomas, was the love of every girl’s life when I was younger. My ballet classmates and I would exchange Tiger Beats and wish we could go to Hollywood and tell him how much we loved him.

Jelly Sandals?!!!

Every girl had to have jellies. I’m going to say around ’97. I hade clear glitter jellies and although I’ve heard people complaining that even though they hurt your feet, they were still the style–they never hurt my feet. These purple ones are so cute I’d wear them now!

I had a smiley face patch on the butt of my jeans and everyone thought that was pretty cool. Usually, the patches were ironed on to backpacks or skater jeans.

Mary Janes?

White t-strap Mary Janes

Cher's Mary Janes--loved these then and still want them now! Don't know who Cher is? For Shame!!!! Go watch "Clueless."

These would have been so awesome to have in 7th/8th grade. Yes this is how the girls in my class dressed (or at least how I dressed!). I think Cher Horowitz popularized these in the 90s.  I know they were popular in other decades but, can’t you see a pattern? Everything else was, too! How unoriginal.

I thought I would have come up with more, but that was exhausting.

Vivid Vixens, Voluptuous Voluptuaries, and Velvety Vainglorious Venuses

I’m talking about the ladies of the silver screen! Here are a few of them:

My favorite!!

Marilyn Monroe

Before performing, Marilyn would sometimes get sewn into her dresses so they could be skin-tight. She was sewn into her dress to sing “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy. She wore nothing underneath! To make her hips sway even more when she walked, one heel was cut to be shorter than the other. She wore red lipstick and red toenail polish, but always kept her fingernails nude. Chanel No 5 was her perfume of choice.

Audrey Hepburn-Voted the most naturally beautiful woman of all time by a panel of experts. They chose the most beautiful out of a list of 100 lovely ladies compiled by Evian. I will put the list in last so you all can have a look!

Audrey Hepburn was very self-consious about her teeth. I guess all the worry was for nothing since she is considered the most beautiful actress of all time by many. She sported pixie bangs and thick eyebrows, doe eyes and ballet slippers!

Brigitte Bardot-I’ve always loved her hair.

Bardot, now 74, has gotten herself into trouble numerous times for voicing her controversial political views. When I hear her name, I think of her “Sauerkraut” hairstyle (yes, this is what it’s called but in French) and her bangin’ bikini bod.

Bette Davis-One of my favorite actresses, Davis was well known for her sexy bedroom eyes.  She played many a “vainglorious vixen!”

Bette was the first woman to be presented with the AFI Life Achievement Award.

Veronica Lake-Femme Fatale with the “peek-a-boo” hair!

No! This is not Veronica Lake!! It is Martha Stewart made up by the late cosmetic genius Kevyn Aucoin. But it does look just like Veronica!! Buy the book this picture is featured in, “Making Faces,” on Amazon.com.

Veronica so influences ladies in the 1940s, that the hairdo was affecting their job performance! Getting your hair caught in a machine is not worth it!!
